| Your position | Do this next | Do not do this yet |
|---|---|---|
| Nobody can reconcile production invoices with review and correction work | Establish a matched-cohort cost baseline | Publish an automation ROI or outsourcing savings claim |
| Returns mainly concern missing inspection evidence | Improve the intake standard and inspection feedback loop | Replace the production supplier without testing the input problem |
| Evidence is usable, but drafting or documentation creates avoidable work | Compare internal improvement, targeted software and scoped production support | Assume outsourcing is the only solution |
| The bottleneck is identifiable and acceptance is defined | Complete data, authority and integration checks; run a controlled pilot | Send live files into an unapproved trial |
| The pilot misses a quality or control requirement | Correct the cause, narrow the scope or stop | Trade a material control failure for a lower unit price |
| Quality, economics and controls pass | Contract the tested service and expand in stages | Extrapolate routine-file results to every loss type or catastrophe |
Bring in a specialist before commitment when your team cannot resolve acceptance, defect attribution, legal scope or integration uncertainty itself. Buying additional production capacity is a different decision: do that after the bottleneck and retained review burden are measured.
