What does outsourced property claims estimating cost?

Public pages provide useful price observations, but most transparent examples cover contractor-facing estimate writing rather than a carrier’s full production obligation.

All prices below were reviewed on 20 October 2026. Where the page does not state an effective date, the research date is an observation date—not a claim that the price began then.

Supplier or product Published price Scope and limitations
Restimate estimate writing $100 base per service, plus 1% of the estimate portion between $10,001 and $250,000, then 0.5% above $250,000 Restoration-professional service. Published outputs include ESX and PDF; confirm separately ordered sketches and the exact fee calculation. This is not a flat $100 full-file price. (restimate.com)
SaguaroScope limited estimate-writing services Starting at $149 mitigation, $179 roofing Estimate Only, and $299 reconstruction Estimate Only Eligibility depends on the supplier’s Simple classification. Carrier technical coordination is separate, and the supplier targets contractors. (saguaroscope.com)
Verisk Xactimate Pro $2,690 annually, or $350 monthly Software access, not a staffed production service. These are public subscription prices, not an enterprise carrier quote. (xactimate.com)

What the range means: the observed $100–$299 starting figures demonstrate that limited drafting services have public entry prices. They do not validate the supplied $75–$300 range as a benchmark for complete carrier-ready production.

How can apparently inexpensive services become expensive?

Restimate’s percentage-based schedule illustrates why a starting fee is not the final bill. Applying its published structure to an assumed $50,000 estimate produces approximately $500 per service, calculated—not $100. That example is arithmetic, not evidence of a typical claim value or carrier purchasing price. (restimate.com)

Likewise, a software subscription and a delivered file have different cost boundaries. At an assumed 600 files per licensed user annually, Xactimate Pro’s $2,690 annual price allocates to approximately $4.48 per file, calculated. Production labour, review, other systems and exceptions are outside that calculation. (xactimate.com)

What should a production quote normaliser capture?

Require every bidder to answer the same questions before comparing per-file prices:

  • Is the charge per unique claim, estimate, production attempt or accepted file?
  • Which inspection inputs must be complete before the service clock starts?
  • Are sketching, photographs, narrative, evidence links and QA included?
  • Which revisions are free, and which constitute new scope?
  • Are supplements, reopened files and new inspection evidence separately charged?
  • Are licences, assignment fees and integrations included or retained by the carrier?
  • What minimum volumes, surge charges and cancellation commitments apply?
  • Does acceptance require carrier review, or occur automatically after a time limit?

Procurement should distinguish that contractual mechanism from its own technical acceptance measure.
