How do you improve first-pass acceptance of property claim estimates?

Use a shared acceptance rubric, catch avoidable defects before delivery and feed confirmed causes back to the responsible workflow owner. Do not improve the reported percentage by excluding difficult files or asking carrier reviewers to make unrecorded fixes.

The proposed core measure is:

First-pass acceptance = files accepted after their first review without required corrective production work ÷ all first-submitted files reviewed.

Report alongside it:

  • Files assigned but not yet submitted.
  • Supplier declines and withdrawals.
  • Missing-input returns.
  • Carrier edits made without formally returning the file.
  • Material defects subsequently found in accepted files.
  • Acceptance and correction time by loss type and inspection source.

Real-time rules are one practical intervention. Verisk’s official XactXpert video description explains that its rules engine identifies issues while an estimate is being prepared, including missing information and line-item issues. That is a documented capability, not proof of a particular acceptance improvement. (youtube.com)

Run reviewer calibration before comparing suppliers. A producer cannot reliably optimise against a standard that changes by reviewer, and a supplier should not gain an advantage simply because one review team is more permissive.
