Newsletter drafts

Use a balanced acceptance scorecard, not a single accuracy percentage.

Which measures should determine whether to expand?

We recommend reporting:

  • Cost per accepted file, with cohort maturity and unresolved work visible.
  • First-pass acceptance among first submissions reviewed, alongside unreviewed and blocked-file counts.
  • Material-defect rates from independent sampling, including files that already passed.
  • Review and correction minutes by loss type, complexity and inspection source.
  • Elapsed time from initial submission to usable file, including pauses and returns.
  • Post-acceptance corrections, repeat visits and escalations attributable to production.

The NAIC Model Bulletin describes testing against expert review and retesting as relevant validation approaches. It does not provide a universal property-file acceptance benchmark. (content.naic.org)

What would change our recommendation? Representative results showing a durable reduction in total effort, acceptable material-defect performance, working hand-offs and a credible exit path would support expansion. A quick first draft accompanied by more carrier verification would not.

Quarter-end question: Can your team demonstrate why each accepted file passed—and what it cost to get there?
